Role: Graphic designer

Brand kit for the Alaska Native Language Summit. Logos depict three flowers (2023) and three blueberry branches (2024) illustrated in a beadwork style. Colors include navy, light blue, orange, pink, and green. Fonts are Aboriginal Sans and Open Sans.

The Alaska Native Language Summit is held as a pre-conference to the Alaska Science of Reading Symposium. To grow capacity for the critical work of revitalizing Alaska Native languages after centuries of suppression, Alaska Native language teachers, experts, and Elders gather in Anchorage, Alaska — the traditional lands of the Dena’ina — to exchange practices, grow networks, and discuss strategies for teaching and revitalizing Native languages in schools and communities throughout Alaska.

The client requested that logos depict natural elements illustrated in the traditional style of Native beadwork. Deliverables for both years’ summits included:

  • Brand kit (shown above)
  • Logo
  • Name tags in all 20 official Alaska Native languages
  • Slides template
  • Pop-up banners
  • Folders
  • Branded agenda
  • Lanyards
  • Stickers (shown above, with the Native words for “blueberry” in all 20 AK Native languages forming a border around the design)
  • Directional signage
