Role: Executive Producer
Eyes Above is a documentary produced by MediaLab at Pacific Lutheran University. The film depicts the plight of the Tohono O’odham Native American tribe in southern Arizona, whose traditional lands have been bisected by the Mexico-United States border. In an age of increasing scrutiny over border crossings, — punctuated by Trump’s proposed wall — and swift developments in surveillance technology, the Tohono O’odham have been treated as suspects on their own land, which is currently being encroached by surveillance towers, drones, ground sensors, helicopters, and the ever-present Border Patrol.
Eyes Above won the College Emmy Award in the short-form non-fiction category.
As Executive Producer of the film and Director of MediaLab, my role was to meet with the documentary team every week for check-ins, help guide the topical focus of the film, attend shoots, identify gaps in reporting, offer technical guidance, offer feedback on drafts of the film, and secure grant funding for the film’s premiere.
