Role: Director, co-editor, co-cinematographer

This documentary project was commissioned by the Chinese Reconciliation Projects Foundation of Tacoma, which aims to advance civic harmony through public projects. This project was also supported by the Tacoma Creates grant program. The Resting Place tells the story of the establishment of a community cemetery through the hard work and care of the Vietnamese community in Tacoma, who wanted to provide a safety net for those in the community unable to afford the high costs associated with burying a loved one. It’s a story of a community coming together across differences and even internal strife to provide for its most vulnerable.

The Resting Place was selected for the Viet Film Festival and the Seattle Asian American Film Festival; it was a semi-finalist for the Austin International Film Festival.
